Virgin Media now offering Gigabit broadband speeds across the entire Island of Ireland - covering almost 1.4 Million homes
With Virgin Media’s Northern Ireland network now offering gigabit broadband speeds to nearly 400,000 homes, Virgin Media continues to be Ireland’s largest gigabit broadband provider
Thursday, November 5th, 2020: Virgin Media has switched on gigabit broadband across its entire network in Northern Ireland. Nearly 400,000 homes are now able to benefit from Northern Ireland’s fastest broadband offering average download speeds of 1,104Mbps. This includes homes in Belfast, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Craigavon, Derry, Lisburn, Newtownabbey, Portadown and other towns. Virgin Media has invested £150 million in Northern Ireland over the last five years as part of its network expansion programme.
This extensive launch follows on from Virgin Media Ireland’s recent launch of their gigabit broadband service in August making Virgin Media the country’s largest gigabit broadband provider.

With Virgin Media’s hyperfast gigabit speeds, ultra-high definition 4K films and TV programmes, very large files and videos can be downloaded almost instantaneously, even with multiple devices using the connection simultaneously.
