How do I switch broadband providers?
When you are ordering your new Virgin Broadband service we’ll give you the option for us to switch your existing broadband service on your behalf. You can choose this at the time of ordering, or if you don’t have all the details at the time, we’ll provide the information you’ll need to submit your request in your contract confirmation communication.
If you are providing switching details after you’ve ordered, we encourage you to submit them as soon as possible so we can process your switch request once your new Virgin Media broadband service is activated.
How long does it take to switch?
Switching takes no time at all, we'll help you through the process! Once you have given us your details you will be ready to receive your equipment.
If you order before 6pm, from Monday to Thursday, you can expect delivery of your kit the very next day*. (Exceptions may apply at very busy times of the year like Christmas or other key sales promotion periods.).
Any orders received outside these times will be processed on the next working day. You’ll get an SMS on the day of delivery, giving you a one-hour window when the driver will arrive to deliver your order.
The message will also include a Tracking ID number and a link to the DPD website. Just click the link in the text message to track your order. Simple!
On the day of delivery, you’ll get a second email confirming the delivery details and everything else you need. Then you’re good to go.
*Where a technician is required to install your order, next day delivery will not apply.
Do I contact my old provider?
No. When you switch to Virgin Media, we can arrange to cancel your broadband with your existing provider for you. This means you don’t need to give 30 days’ notice, and there’s no overlap in billing.
If you choose not to opt in to Broadband Switching, you will need to contact your current provider directly to cancel your existing services.
Will I lose internet?
- No. We won't notify your old provider to cease services until your Virgin Media broadband is live and ready for browsing.
Can I switch during my contract?
You'll be liable for any contract breakage fee that apply under your current providers contract terms and conditions. You won't be charged for services by both providers at any stage of the process.
